Come and enjoy the foods and sounds of Greece at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church’s 37th Annual Greek Festival, September 4 – 7, 2014. Come rain or shine under the tents!
Indulge in the homemade, authentic Greek menu including moussaka (layered sliced eggplant and ground beef topped with Béchamel cream sauce baked to a golden brown), pastitsio (layered macaroni and ground beef topped with Béchamel Sauce baked to a golden brown), roasted leg of lamb, oregano-chicken, as well as souvlaki and gyro. Appetizers include Greek salad with feta cheese and olives, tiropites (cheese puffs), spanakopites (spinach puffs), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and meatballs. Don’t forget to treat yourself with the homemade, tasty desserts and pastries the festival has to offer! And to complete your taste of Greece, sip Greek wine or Ouzo, the liqueur of the ancient Gods.
Fully enjoy the sounds of Greece with live music and authentic folk dancing, featuring several dance groups of all ages. Opa!
A variety of vendors will be selling handmade copper and silver artwork, oil paintings, jewelry, and other wares. Don’t forget to bring the kids to the festivals’ many rides and games!
The festival will be held at 721 Rahway Avenue, Union, NJ. The hours are: Thursday 9/4, 6pm-10pm. Friday 9/5, 6pm-12am. Saturday 9/6, Noon – Midnight. Sunday 9/7, Noon – 8pm. Admission is $1 donation and ample parking is free.
