“Tired of Turkey” fundraiser

On Thursday, November 29th, 2018,  the Education Foundation of Garwood (EFG) held a very successful “Tired of Turkey” fundraiser. The event was well attended and a total of $450 was raised through a contribution of 15% of patrons’ checks at The Station Bar and Grill, 99 Center Street, Garwood. Additionally, nearly $200 was raised in direct contributions to the organization from patrons that night as well.

The owner of The Station Bar and Grill, Brian Cruikshank, said, “I’m always happy to support the great local organizations we have in town, like the EFG. It’s a win-win for Garwood.” Flyers brought by patrons supporting the EFG were honored from 3 p.m. to midnight. All of the proceeds will be used for scholarships for Garwood students and grants for Lincoln School teachers.

In reflecting on the night, EFG President Sara Todisco said, “I want to say a big thank you to Brian and The Station for their support, which was our fourth fundraiser with them over the past few years.” She added, “The EFG has continued to increase its membership each year for several years now and I appreciate all the members who helped so much to drive up the turnout.”

Please save the date for the signature EFG event of the 15th Annual Appreciation Dinner to be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue, Garwood. This event honors an Educator of the Year as well as a Person Making a Difference.

The EFG is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization. It was founded in 2004 to work with the Garwood School District “in pursuit of educational excellence.” You can follow the foundation on Facebook at “Education Foundation of Garwood.”
