(above) A kickoff meeting of the Union County Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Consortium was held on Thurs., November 7 at Garwood Borough Hall. The purpose is to share ideas and increase opportunities for collaborative programs.

Mayor’s Wellness Campaign

The Garwood Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Committee would like to wish all a Happy and Healthy New Year. The committee would like to thank all who participated in the events of 2019, especially our 3K Walks with our special guest walkers. For this coming year of 2020, the committee is planning four major programs for the community of Garwood. We are also planning to continue our 3K Walks with Mayor Todisco and other special guest walkers which will occur every third Saturday of the month (weather permitting) at 9:00 a.m. at Garwood’s Recreation Complex on Myrtle Ave.

Another major goal of the Wellness Committee is to obtain a “Healthy Town Designation” through New Jersey Care Quality Institute, in partnership with New Jersey League of Municipalities. We are always willing to work or co-sponsor with any organization in town to create, support, or enhance a program on physical fitness or nutrition. We would appreciate all to follow us on Facebook at Garwood Mayors Wellness Campaign or our news articles in the Garwood Times and other local newspapers. For further information, please contact us at MWC@garwood.org or join us at our monthly meetings held on the second Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in Garwood Borough Hall.
