The Rotary Club of Plainfield-North Plainfield, recently held their 19th Annual Rotary Wine Tasting Dinner at Giovanni’s in North Plainfield. The 2018 Service Above Self Award was presented to Plainfield resident and Union County Freeholder Linda Carter.
Freeholder Bruce Bergen, a 35-year rotary club member, presented the award to Carter. He said, “Service about self is the rotary motto. She goes above and beyond.”
The Club’s annual Wine Tasting Dinner was also a fundraiser for the club’s scholarship program. Awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from both North Plainfield High School and Plainfield High School, the club uses money raised at this and other events throughout the year.
There were door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and a grand door prize. Wines from France and Italy were sampled throughout the event.
