History of the Garden
Before Leonard J. Buck sold his 33-acre estate to Somerset County in 1976, he collaborated with well-known landscape-architect Zenon Schreiber to develop a naturalistic garden on his property. Their goal was to create an ecologically sustainable garden that would not be easily recognized as man-made.

As a result of their vision, the garden was cultivated and set among outlying rock formations within a wooded-stream valley. Visitors can now enjoy the garden that contains exotic species of flora, which have been adapting and thriving in microclimates throughout the years.

Social Distancing
The Somerset County Park Commission requires mask-wearing in all of its facilities. However, the Park Commission can change its social distancing regulations at any time during an event to comply with state-mandated healthcare guidelines.
