Hannah Caldwell Elementary School Students Get Published

Hannah Caldwell Elementary School has much to celebrate as twenty-three of their students were published in the Spring 2016 Creative Communications A Celebration of Poets. Creative Communications is a well-known company that encourages stu-dents to pursue their love of creative writing. Teachers Janine DaSilva, Diana Cantone, and Les-lie Jenkins decided to enter their students because they believed that this would give them the opportunity to develop their writing skills and show them how they can become empowered by their writing.
The students then created several types of poems such as acrostic, haiku, and cinquian. The students then chose their favorite poems they hoped to be published. Their poems were submitted to Creative Communications last Spring. Teachers were notified several weeks later of students’ whose poems were chosen for publish in the 2016 Spring Edition of A Celebration of Poets book, available for purchase online.
