Girls Scouts of Cranford Spread an Important Message

Sometimes a simple reminder can make a big impact. The Girl Scouts of Junior Troop 40722 put that concept into action when they tied hundreds of colorful bows to the bridge railing on Springfield Avenue in Cranford. The center banner reads, “TIES THAT BIND” #CRANFORD STRONG”. The eye-catching display is meant to remind residents and passersby that a key to overcoming the COVID 19 pandemic is to stay united in our efforts and to stay connected even when social distancing is required.

“Our troop wanted to spread some joy to the community during the pandemic,” explained volunteer troop leader Tracee Blanton. “We tied nearly 1,100 brightly colored ribbons to unite our community. One of the girls said that it felt really good to work on a project that would have such a positive impact. And the feedback from the community has been so great. We were able to raise people’s spirits and that has been very moving for the girls and for us too.”
