Elizabeth Yanni to Represent Region in 12u USA Softball All American Games

Elizabeth Yanni Represents USA Softball Team

Elizabeth Yanni, a 7th grader at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School, was chosen to represent the NorthEast Region 1 Stripes team at the 12u USA Softball All American Games. She will be one of 15 young women playing under the direction of head coach, Jaime Wohlbach, and assistant coach, Jenn Shellhammer-Getz. Coach Wohlbach is the head coach of the East Stroudsburg University Warriors softball program and Coach Shellhammer-Getz is the head coach at Lehigh Carbon.

The 12u USA Softball All American games is a prestigious tournament where the team will face the best of the best from across the country. The games are played at the USA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and will take place this year from August 13-15.  More details about this event can be found on the USA softball website, usasoftballallamericangames.com.

Locally, Elizabeth plays with the Finch’s Aces 12u Gallo team out of Flemington, NJ as a catcher and third baseman. This spring she also had the opportunity to play with her classmates on the Kumpf Cougars middle school softball team and for a recreational team out of Carteret called the UCLA Bruins. During the middle school season, she led the Cougars with an impressive 6 home runs, 3 triples, 3 doubles, and 18 singles, and had a total of 32 RBIs. 

In addition to being a hardworking and dedicated athlete, she also excels in the classroom. Elizabeth is a straight A student enrolled in Honors courses at Kumpf and a member of the 7/8th grade choir and builder’s club.
