Annual District Arts Festival Features Fine, Practical and Performing Arts

The North Plainfield Twentieth Annual District Arts Festival was held April 8, 2016 at the North Plainfield High School. The event featured Fine, Practical and Performing Arts and was a collaboration of the Visual Art, Music, Speech and Theatre, Dance and Family and Consumer Science Departments.
“…we are delighted to bring you the creative and innovative accomplishments of the students throughout the district, and provide the opportunity to talk with our young artists and their teachers,” said Tom Mazur, Supervisor, Fine, Practical and Performing Arts.
Ongoing displays and demonstrations featured K-12 Visual Art Exhibits, Child Development, Creative Clothing, Living Theatre, Drama Workshop, Winter Guard demonstrations and fresh baked goods – as well as instrumental, choral, singing, jazz band and dance performances.
“I like to see the children year to year create and share their different and evolving art pieces,” said Sonya Larado, K-4 Visual Arts at Stony Brook School, West End Kindergarten Art and North Plainfield High School Digital Photography teacher.
North Plainfield High School Art, Visual Arts and Photography teacher, Kim Nydick, said, “This is a wonderful community event showcasing the talent of students in all grades and across many art forms.”

It is an accurate description, since art is not always about the positive. It is sometimes about the dark experiences in the past from which we can learn.”
