Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year

Marion Patricia Calland was named Outstanding Rahway Senior Citizen of the Year for 2016 by Rahway Mayor Samson Steinman and the Rahway City Council. This is the 20th year the title has been awardedOriginally from Staten Island, ‘Pat’ has spent over 40 years as a very active resident in the Rahway Community. She is a member of many community groups, including the Rahway Branch NAACP, NCNW, Cert-Community Emergency Response Team, Ladies Golden Age Club, Union County Minority Task Force, and the AARP Chapter 607. She has also been a member of the Second Baptist Church since arriving in Rahway with her late husband, Robert Colland, and is currently on their Trustee Board. She also has two children and two grandchildren..
Over the years, ‘Pat’ has received recognition for her dedication to the community. In 2001, she received a nomination for “Woman of the Year” award from the Women’s Guild. In 2011, AARP awarded her with the Quality of Life Award.
