Summit High School to present ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’

Tickets are on sale for the Summit High School Theatre Department’s fall play ‘Peter and the Starcatcher.’ Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 15 to 17, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in the Summit High School auditorium.

“Peter and the Starcatcher is a magical, swashbuckling adventure that upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up,” explains Summit High School Drama Director Anne Poyner. “Our troupe of hysterical storytellers transforms into marauding pirates and jungle tyrants, unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes who playfully explore the depths of greed and despair, and the bonds of friendship. Please join us with your friends and family for this wonderfully engaging production.”

The story of Peter and the Starcatcher focuses on a young orphan and his mates who are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own, the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

Ticket prices are $11 for students and seniors, and $13 for adults. Purchase at showtix4u.com or at the door on the night of the performance.
