Vacation Bible School at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township
The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township welcomed 62 children ages 3-12 and 22 adult and teen volunteers at their annual Vacation Bible School during the week of June 24, 2019. This year’s camp theme was Roar: Life is Wild, God is Good, and in addition to crafts, a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, and games, a few surprise visitors rounded out the fun.
The campers were enchanted by a visit from The Lizard Guys, a fun educational program that included lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs, and various bugs. In addition, Jenny Gaus from the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center presented two hands-on programs: Younger children learned about insects and older kids dissected owl pellets to find vole bones and reconstruct the skeleton. Special guest Michele Jensen of the Community Foodbank of New Jersey worked with children to make a hunger quilt to teach about those with food insecurities in and around the area. Through these guests, the children gained insight into the importance of caring for and protecting all God’s people and creatures.

The week ended with a Family Luncheon. On Sunday, June 30, some of the children, led by Moravian College graduate Kayleigh Bennett, sang during worship.
