Chatham residents Charlotte Nelson, 8, and Vera Iorizzo, 11, along with Stella Yin, 10, of Madison, New Jersey, were invited to perform at Weill Recital Hall, part of the Carnegie Hall complex in New York City. The three pianists proved their musical mettle by winning in various categories in several Piano Teachers Society of America competitions. The three girls were featured in the Winners’ Festival held at the recital hall on May 27, 2018. They were awarded commemorative medals and certificates of accomplishment as a token of their artistry.
The three also performed in auditions held under the auspices of the New York Teachers’ Congress and were selected to perform in the organization’s Honors Recital at the Greenwich House in New York on June 3, 2018.
Charlotte, Vera, and Stella are students of Carmela Cecere in Chatham. A total of nine students from the school were winners. They also performed at the Carnegie venue and the Honors Recital.
