March is upon us, and hopefully we will be having nice weather coming soon!
One thing I like to talk is a little miscommunication as to which website is the actual Kenilworth website. It appears some of our residents are going on KenilworthNJ.com thinking that is our official website. In truth, that used to be our website, however we don’t own the domain name. Several years ago, we created our official website kenilworthborough.com and that is where you can go for information and latest news.
Which brings me to another topic. Kenilworth utilizes the Swift 911 system to get important information and announcements out to the public via landline phone or to cell phones if you wish. Sign up is free and is located on our Kenilworth Borough website. Our goal is to get everyone signed up. If you need assistance signing up, help is available at the Senior Center, Library, and Borough Hall. In times of crisis, the ability to get information quickly and accurately is imperative; this system allows the authorities to do reach as many people as possible.
I would like to remind everyone while the season of giving is technically over, there are still people in need throughout the year. I like to take this time to remind everyone to help stock your local food pantry.
Non-perishable goods and gift cards to any supermarket can be left in the Cry Room at St. Theresa’s Church, 541 Washington Avenue, Kenilworth, New Jersey, after any Mass.
Monday to Friday donations can be dropped off at the Rectory from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Supermarket gift cards and or check donations, payable to St. Theresa’s, can be mailed to: Social Concerns, c/o The Church of St. Theresa, 541 Washington Ave, Kenilworth, NJ 07033
If you are in need of food, you can contact the Rectory at 908-272-4444. They will arrange for a volunteer to meet you at the pantry. All identities of people receiving assistance are kept confidential!
The Kenilworth Calendar is full this month here are some important dates and events coming up;
March 6: The Kenilworth Historical Society, 41 South 21st Street, Kenilworth, will have author Joanne Hamilton Rajoppi, who will be discussing her recent book “Northern Women in the Aftermath of the Civil War.” Relating the perseverance and stamina of women who faced and altered world after the Civil War. Admission is free but advance registration is required, call 908-709-0434.
March 11: Daylight Savings Time, “Spring ahead, fall behind” for those who don’t have clocks and watches that reset themselves, set your clocks an hour ahead.
March 17: St. Patrick’s Day.
March 18: The Rabies Clinic for Dogs and Cats, 11 am. to 1 p.m. at the Fire Department on 491 Washington Avenue, Kenilworth.
March 18: The Public is invited to the Grand Opening Celebration for the New Dimario Park playground located on South Michigan Avenue at 1 p.m. For more information call Kristin Boyle, Recreation Program Administrator at 908-400-2934.
March 20: The Kenilworth Historical Society is hosting “Soups-On” soup tasting event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center, 526 Boulevard, Kenilworth. Featuring a taste of favorite soups from local restaurants and other plus assorted breads and desserts. Cost is just $12 and advanced reservations are required. Call 908-709-0434 for more info reservations.
March 24: The Kenilworth Recreation Annual Easter Egg Hunt. For more details contact Kristin Boyle at 908-400-2934.
March 27: The Kenilworth Historical Society presents Painting Nights at the Nitschke House, 49 South 21st Street, Kenilworth. A two-hour painting session with master artist Pat Hubinger, starting at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $25, and all supplies provided, no prior experience required, however advance registration is required call 908-709-0434.

Thank you to our many volunteers in town, everyday people, taking time out of their busy schedules to make a difference in town. Our Fire Department and Rescue Squad is second to none and I am very proud of the people I serve with.
I would also like to thank our municipal employees for doing a great job, everyone from the clerks to the DPW; you’re the gears that keep the machine running. Special thanks to our Police for being out there 24-7, 365 days a year keeping our town safe.
