Clark Police Detective Captain Patrick Grady was one of eight police offices and two firefighters state-wide that were recognized for performing heroic acts in 2016. The award was presented by the New Jersey State Law Enforcement Officers Association during an awards luncheon held on May 12, 2017.
On September 20, 2016 Capt. Grady came to the assistance of a fellow officer when it was reported that a man was wielding a knife and threatening people. The man then tried to stab another police officer. After the suspect refused orders to drop the knife, Captain Grady fired one shot ending the confrontation.
