Global 5’s National Finals

Global 5s is a nationwide youth 5-a-side soccer tournament created specifically for boys and girls aged 8-16 years old. The tournament is sponsored by PUMA, SKLZ as well as soccer.com. Teams compete within their age group in a Regional 5s event. Each regional age group champion advances to the Global 5s National Championship that occurs July 29th-30th in Hoboken. Hoboken City FC and the City of Hoboken are proud sponsors of the National event.
On March 5th, New Jersey hosted over 40 teams vying for one of only 8 qualifying spots in the Global 5’s National Finals. Some of the girls from Berkeley Heights Youth Soccer (BHYSC) team U12 Galaxy competed and won the NJ Regional 5v5 tournament. As a result, they earned a spot in the national championship tournament in Hoboken.
The event comprised of competing in three age group games, ending in a final between the top two teams. The Galaxy team played a Montgomery JAGS team twice (once in the prelim round and again in the championship) and as well as the Cougars and Scotch Plains. The girls played hard and worked through adversity with five of the seven girls suffering various injuries during the event. They were undefeated in the tournament. Congrats to the girls!
