The Kenilworth Public Library invites children ages two to twelve years old to join the 2024 Adventure Begins At Your Library Summer Reading Club. Registration is ongoing.

Bingo For Children: Mondays at 6:30pm – 7:00pm

Bingo games for children ages 3 & up

Interactive stories and songs for ages 0 – 2 years old

PJ Story Time: Tuesdays at 6:30pm – 7:00pm

Children are welcome to attend this story time program 

dressed in their pajamas and bring along a favorite stuffed animal

for ages 3 & up.

Fun Friday Crafts: Friday at 3:30pm – 4:00pm

Ages: 4 – 9

August 2, 9 & 16

Registration is required for each individual craft one week prior to each craft.

August Special Events

Registration is required for all special events.

Kenilworth residents may register one week prior to each event.

Out of town residents may register two days prior to each event, space permitting.

Sciencetellers Comedy Science Show: Adventure At The Hidden Temple

Thursday, August 1 at 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

Ages: 4 – adult

This program is recommended for ages 4 – adult.

Join us for this interactive comedy science show.

Musical Celebration With Charlie O

Monday, August 5 at 11:00am – 12:00pm

All ages are welcome to join us for this interactive event celebrating summer reading

and an opportunity to receive a free balloon sculpture created by Eddie Lin from Auesome Balloons.

This event will be presented by DJ Charlie Oliva.

Learn About The Heart STEM Science Workshop

Monday, August 5 at4:00pm – 5:00pm

Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.

Learn about the heart’s structure and function.  Particiapte in interactive activities to learn how to measure heart rate and build your own DIY stethoscope to listen to your heart.. 

Registration is required and begins one week prior to this workshop.

Yoga Story Time: 10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, August 7

Join us for stories and yoga poses for the youngest listeners and their caregiver.

This program will be presented by certified yoga instructor Gina Folgar for ages: 2 –  5.

Unique Creatures At The Kenilworth Public Library – Animal Show: 7:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, August 8

Participants will be educated and entertained as they learn about and view up close various animals.

This program is recommended for ages 4 – adult.

Boogie Woogie Babies: 10:30am – 11:00am on Tuesday, August 13

Interactive musical program will be presented by Tiffany Taylor 

for ages: 0-  4

 Meet The Seeing Eye Puppies at The Kenilworth Public Library

Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30pm – 7:00pm

Ages: 4 – Adult

Listen to a story and meet the families that are training puppies to be given back to The Seeing Eye in Morristown. The families will talk about the responsibilities of raising a Seeing Eye puppy and demonstrate basic obedience commands.

At the conclusion of this program, children will be invited to meet and greet the puppies.

All ages are welcome to attend and enjoy foot tapping knee slapping banjo music

Mad Science Fire & Ice Show

Thursday, August 15 at 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Ages: 4 – adult

Join us for impressive science experiments which includes foggy dry ice storms and demonstrates how giant beach balls can float in the air. Everyone will be amazed by sizzling, shivering scissors and special bubbly showers!

 Leaf Stomata Science Workshop

Monday, August 19 at4:00pm – 5:00pm

Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive

STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.

Learn about why plants have leaves, leaf structure and function, and how plants photosynthesize.  Look at plant cells and stomata under a microscope.

Registration is required and begins one week prior to this workshop.

Read To A Dog: 4:00pm – 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 20

For early beginning readers and those who are learning to read Young, reluctant, or struggling readers are encouraged to register for this program and read aloud for 15 minutes with certified therapy dog, Petey. Children will learn to associate reading with being with this furry, non-judgmental listener and begin to view reading in a positive way. Over time, the child’s reading ability and confidence can improve because they are practicing their skills. Registration is required. Readers may register for a 15-minute visit.

Registration begins one week prior to this program.

 KENILWORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY ADULT PROGRAMS

Join us on Tuesday, August  6 & 20 at 2-4pm and Monday, August 12 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm for our card making group  “Paper Pals.” 

You don’t need any paper crafting experience to join the fun. 

    “Yarnies”:  Join us on Thursdays, August 1, 8, 15 & 22  at 2-4pm and Thursday, August  29 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm. You don’t need any crafting experience to enjoy these creative explorations.  Feel free to bring a project to work on.  Watch demonstrations of knitting, crocheting and weaving.  

  “Spin – A – Yarn”: Join us on Tuesday, August 27 at 5:00pm – 7:45pm.  Bring your spinning wheel or drop spindle and create beautiful yarns!  If you don’t have a wheel, you are still welcome to join us to learn about spinning.
