August Programs at the Mountainside Public Library

Mountainside Public Library August 2024

This August the Mountainside Library has some additional free children’s programs provided by The Friends of the Mountainside Library as well as some exciting events for all ages. 

August 4: 6:30pm. Monday Night Book Club. The book this month is 1984 by George Orwell. 

August 5th (12-1:25pm). Award winning documentary: March of the Penguins 

August 7: 2pm, Space Station Virtual Tour. You’re invited to virtually step inside one of the greatest international achievements with a behind-the-scenes guide to space exploration with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum curator Dr. Jennifer Levasseur. To register go to libraryc.org/mountainside 

August 8: 6pm. Blue Jersey Band Concert: “Django, Jazz and Bluegrazz”. Enjoy a free concert- listen to tunes from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, American Songbook, Standards. Something for all ages. With interesting stories and liner notes. No registration required.

August 15: (6-7pm): Cliff’s Cooking Prep: Pots and Pans. 

Learn about general use and maintenance of pots and pans with a long-term, self-taught home cook. Registration required. Email spicaro@mountainsidelibrary.org or call the library. Free to attend. Participants are responsible for their own personal safety with regard to handling materials, sharp knives, and managing food allergies. Participants are asked to wear closed shoes and avoid flowing clothing that can catch on objects. The library cannot guarantee protection against food allergies nor adherence to specific food restriction. If allergies are a concern, the library recommends participation in a non-food-based program.

August 22: Board Game Night, 5:30pm. Bring a card game or a board game to play, or enjoy one of the games provided. No registration needed.

August Story Time: Tuesdays, Aug 6, 13, 20 & 27 (3-3:30pm). Special longer tales for good listeners. No registration required.

August Family Story Time: Wednesdays, Aug 7, 14, 21 & 28 (10-10:45am). Stories, songs, rhymes and a craft for all ages.  No registration required.

August Babies In Arms: Wednesdays, Aug 7, 14, 21 & 28 (11:15am). A lap-sit with simple stories, songs, rhymes and time to visit with others. This is a good way to meet other families and get to know your library. No registration needed.

August Rotating Clubs: Thursdays, Aug 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 (2-4pm). Something new each week for families to do together. Examples: Legos, art, puzzles, games and more. 

August Friday Afternoon Movies: Fridays, Aug 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 (1pm).
