Celebrating Reading
Rahway Public Schools
Franklin Elementary School in Rahway celebrated reading by giving reading medals to students. The medals were presented by Dr. Juan Miao, the school’s Vice-Principal. Dr. Miao spoke to the students about the importance of reading and how it can open up a world of possibilities. She encouraged them to keep continue reading all summer long. “Reading is a lifelong journey,” said Dr. Miao. “It’s a way to learn about new things, to explore different cultures, and to expand your imagination.” The students were all smiles as they received their medals. They have worked hard all school year to read for at least 20 minutes every night and to complete monthly reading logs. “I’m so proud of all of our students for their hard work,” said acting Principal, Dr. Kevin Robinson. “They have really shown a love of reading this year, and it’s been amazing to see their progress.” The school hopes that the students will continue to love reading and that they will use their reading skills to learn and grow throughout their lives.
