School #9 Carnival Night

On June 7th, the School #9 Positive Behavior Support in Schools Committee (PBSIS) hosted its first Carnival Night for students and their families. The PBSIS Committee’s purpose is to improve the climate in the schools by using system-wide positive behavioral interventions to discourage disruptive behaviors. To encourage good behavior School #9 has implemented a “Deerfield Dollar” program that allows students to save up their dollars to purchase items from the school store. Items can range from 1 dollar to up to 50 dollars.
The Carnival not only raised money for future events and items for the school store, but also gave a chance for students to win Deerfield Dollars by competing at different games of chance. Frisbee Toss, Balloon Pop, Knock the Cans, as well as estimation games were played in an effort for students to win big. Students were also able to enjoy face painting, cupcake decorating as well finger nail painting.
To help with this amazing event, the Allen Texas Project members volunteered their time and energy to make this event a huge success by manning stations, and face painting. It was a whole team effort and best of all the kids and families had a great time.
