Local Businesses Sponsor Free Family Fun Day

The Long Hill Chamber of Commerce along with several local businesses sponsored Millington Downtown Day on Sunday, October 15 2017. All games, rides, activities, and even food such as hot dogs, cotton candy, and popcorn were all paid for by the local businesses who collectively made contributions of over $10,000 to sponsor the event.
Over 1200 people attended, most of them local families. “It was a great day”, said Millington Downtown Day committee member and Chamber of Commerce Vice President Mary Meyer of Mary’s Your Name Here in Millington. “I think everyone really enjoyed the fall theme and the ‘country fair’ atmosphere”, she said. The pumpkin painting was a big hit along with the game truck, skeeball, face painting, and other activities. “We owe the fun and success of this day to our local businesses”, said Chamber President Michelle Cavett of Soo Bahk Do Karate of Gillette. “While the Township’s support is certainly an integral part of the event, the money to have it is all put up by our local business community.
We feel it’s important to give back to our community, and just as important to remind our residents to ‘shop local’, especially with the holidays around the corner”. The major sponsors were Millington Bank, ShopRite, Investors Bank, Echoes-Sentinel, and Atlantic Health Systems. The following local businesses contributed: Angel Tip Nails, Law Offices of Camilla T. Morch, Denise Murphy Weichert Realtors, Gluten Free Gloriously Bakery, Great Swamp Greenhouse, Jaeger Lumber, Long Hill Auto, Millington Auto Body, Mary’s YNH, Millington Station Cafe, Robert J. Garafolo DDS PA, Regency Landscape, Royal Turf, Jean DiGrande State Farm, Soo Bahk Do Karate of Gillette., Stirling Hotel, The Learning Experience of Warren and Basking Ridge, and VGI Promotions.
