Kenilworth’s Phillip Costa signs with NJIT

On behalf of David Brearley High School and in particular, the Boys Soccer Team, I would like to congratulate Phillip Costa for earning and accepting a scholarship to play soccer at The New Jersey Institute of Technology next fall. I would also like to extend that congratulations to his parents, Lourenco and Ferdinanda, for their support of Phillip during this pursuit of his goals- to play Division 1 soccer and to become an engineer. Phillip’s hard work and dedication have paid off handsomely.

There is no one more deserving of this opportunity than Phillip Costa. He has done everything the right way. Each practice he was always the first one on the field and the last one off – every day. He has worked on and honed all aspects of his soccer game and has turned weaknesses into strengths. He has worked hard in the weight room and on the track to make himself a better athlete. In short, he maximized his abilities and became one of the best high school soccer players in the state of NJ.

And on the academic side, Phillip is always studying and reading and working on projects and on his course work. He has successfully taken a very challenging course load at David Brearley. He has demonstrated meticulous study habits and is a natural intellect. I have the utmost confidence that he will excel at NJIT and reach his academic goals. Brearley’s loss is without a doubt NJIT’s gain.
