Relay For Life of Rahway

At the time of this writing the American Cancer Society posted on their website that 580 participants raised $81,365.58 for the Relay for Life of Rahway which was held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Rahway River Park Stadium.
The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams raise funds in the months leading up to the event. Relay For Life is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community, with four million participants in 6,000 events worldwide in 2015.

THANKS TO STUDENTS
Just under 40 Rahway High School students attended the celebration contributing just over $600 and much needed volunteer people power. Members of the ROTC escorted survivors from the start of the field to the survivors tent. The cheerleaders then cheered on the survivors, caregivers, and remaining event members during each of the honorary laps. The remaining students set up close to 500 ceremonial luminara bags, supervised children games, and performed other miscellaneous tasks necessary to make the event run smoothly.
