Calvary Lutheran Church Sept Events

Calvary Lutheran Church, located at 108 Eastman St, Cranford, invites you to join us for 3 special Sundays in September. We are excited to kick off the new program year with events aimed at celebrating and serving the church and our community.
On Sunday, September 10th, we welcome New Jersey Synod Bishop Tracie Bartholomew to our pulpit. The Bishop will kick off our celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and address the church’s need to adapt in an everchanging world. We will also hold our annual “Blessing of the Backpacks”. Each September, we take a moment to bless our kids as they begin a new school year. Briefcases are also welcome!
On September 17th, we will do the Lord’s work for “God’s Work, Our Hands” Sunday. This year, we will sell freshly made baklava with all proceeds going to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Disaster Relief Fundearmarked for Middle Eastern refugees. Everyone is invited to sample our delicious baklava, which we will make under the skillful eye of the owner of Old City Café in Cranford. You can buy this tasty treat at the church between 11a-2pm. Pick up some baklava to take home, or sit down and enjoy a piece with a cup of coffee and some fellowship. And on September 24th, we kick off a new Sunday School year focusing on our “Water is Life” theme. Bring water from your favorite vacation spot and join us as we celebrate the gift of water, both from a physical and a spiritual standpoint. Thanks be to God for the waters of our Baptism, which we invite you to share.
Sunday worship begins at 9:30am in the sanctuary and usually lasts for about an hour. We welcome everyone, no matter what your background or where you are in your spiritual journey. Children are always welcome at our services. Dress as you feel comfortable. Calvary Lutheran Church is located at 108 Eastman Street in Cranford.
